2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

 

Headquartered at Seattle, WA-USA, SightLife, is as an international non-governmental organization (INGO) to eliminate corneal blindness.

 

Working with surgeons in over 30 countries, SightLife and its Global Partners restore sight to more than 20 men, women, and children each day and prevent an additional seven a day from suffering vision loss. SightLife’s efforts are focused internationally on global eye bank capacity building, clinical training, advocating for policy change and prevention and community outreach.

 

SightLife’s mission is to eliminate corneal blindness globally through partnerships with governments, hospitals, eye banks and organizations in low- and middle-income countries, where 90% of the 12.7 million people suffering from curable corneal blindness live.

About Prevention Program

 

The Prevention Program works through partnering with eye hospitals in underserved regions to provide training to ASHA workers to help them provide first aid eye care to those who suffer from eye trauma. It aims to achieve this by Corneal Abrasion Diagnosis and Management, Female Community Health Volunteers Training and Awareness and Community Outreach Activities.

 

Currently Sightlife is working with two partners comprising Sitapur Eye Hospital (UP), Bharatpur and Eye Hospital (Nepal) with plans for expansion to two additional sites in Nepal in 2019.

 

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the Prevention Senior Program Manager and working closely with SightLife’s Global Prevention and Clinical Programs teams, and other key global SightLife staff and subject matter experts, the Programme Coordinator (PC) shall be responsible for supporting both programs.

 

The focus of the post-holder shall be to support the Prevention and Clinical programs teams in India and Nepal through the following:

1) Working with implementation partners to ensure data is collected and entered in a timely manner;

2) Providing logistics support for programs, including travel and accommodations, transportation, and booking meeting spaces; and

3) Working with vendors to source medical and other supplies, including awareness materials.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

 

(1) Support planning and execution of programmatic activities in Nepal and India including community health worker training events;
(2) Support awareness campaign activities including overseeing design and printing of materials and planning community engagement meetings;
(3) Oversee data collection from partners to develop project level reports for monthly and quarterly reporting cycles;
(4) Support monthly and quarterly invoicing and financial reporting from partners to inform grant payments and financial reforecasting;
(5) Manage onsite teams on a daily basis, including coordinators and supervisors at multiple program sites;
(6) Manage travel and meeting logistics for programs, including flight, hotel, and ground transportation;
(7) Source medical supplies and consumables for programs and manage inventory to ensure consistent availability;
(8) Manage current vendors and identify qualified new vendors as needed;
(9) Support online communications activities, including drafting communication for social media postings;

(10) Support filling of paperwork for government approvals, including Medical Council of India credentialing;

(11) Provide operational support for prevention and clinical programs teams and perform other duties as assigned;

(12) Support in all daily activities, strive to support the Mission, Vision, and Values of SightLife.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualifications:

(1) Graduate in any stream;

(2) Post Graduate degree/ diploma/ certification in Public Health/ Social Sciences/ Hospital Management, or other relevant professional qualification.

 

Experience:

Minimum one to three years of experience in the health sector with focus on provision of program and administrative support. Prior experience of working in the support function with a hospital shall be an advantage.

 

Essential Skills and Competencies:

(1) Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi is essential. Knowledge of a third language shall be an advantage;
(2) Exceptional verbal, written, analytical, presentation, customer service and interpersonal skills;
(3) Ability to have patience and persistence while thinking quickly on feet;

(4) Ability to meet deadlines and accurately attend to details;

(5) Excellent planning, time management, decision-making and organization skills;

(6) Self-motivated team player with desire and ability to learn rapidly;

(7) Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision;

(8) Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to use PCs, Microsoft software, web meeting applications and stay current with relevant technology and innovation;

(9) Commitment to the cause of corneal donation;

(10) High personal integrity and ethics;

(11) Demonstrable ability to work late nights and weekends on periodic basis, as a participant in global meetings in different time zones;

(12) Willingness to travel up to 20% time in India and Nepal.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. The actual offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
