2. ORGANISATION BACKGROUND:

 

Wadhwani AI (WAI) is a nonprofit institute building and deploying applied AI solutions to solve critical issues in public health, agriculture, education, and urban development in underserved communities in the global south.

 

WAI collaborate with governments, social sector organizations, academic and research institutions, and domain experts to identify real-world problems and develop practical AI solutions to tackle these issues to make a substantial positive impact.

 

WAI has over 30+ AI projects supported by leading philanthropies such as Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID and Google.org. With a team of over 200 professionals, WAI's expertise encompasses AI/ ML research and innovation, software engineering, domain knowledge, and design and user research.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the CEO, the Finance and Accounts Manager (FAM) shall be responsible for the following activities:

 

Key Job Responsibilities:

 

(1) Supervise the maintenance of books and accounts of the organization in an ERP-based accounting application;

(2) Prepare financial reports, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and Budgets vs Actuals;

(3) Maintain project wise and donor wise accounts. Prepare donor reports;

(4) Manage financial data and generate reports using ERP-based accounting software;

(5) Oversee bank transactions, payments, and reconciliations. Monitor cash flow and optimize fund utilization;

(6) Liaise with the Company Secretary, local authorities and the audit team for fulfilling filing requirements;

(7) Prepare grant applications, monitor compliance, and submit financial reports to donors and agencies;

(8) Ensure responsible use of financial resources and implement cost-saving measures.

(9) Ensure timely preparation and filing of FCRA, GST, 26AS reconciliation, and TDS returns;

(10) Assist with the finalization of accounts;

(11) Manage payroll processes, including salary calculations, deductions, and tax withholding, ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations relating to employee compensation.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualification and Experience:
(1) Applicants must have a Bachelor’s/ Master’s Degree in Accountancy, Commerce or related field, with five to seven years of relevant experience in the not-for-profit sector;
(2) Chartered Accountants shall be at an advantage
(3) High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing projects and priorities simultaneously.

 

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
(2) Experience in and sound understanding of the development sector;
(3) Ability to create systems and process for accounting and reporting as per organizational requirements;
(4) Proficiency in the use of Zoho Books or other ERP-based accounting and financial systems; Troubleshoot any issues related to Zoho books shall be an added advantage
(5) Demonstrate strategic thinking and analytical skills to synthesize interpret qualitative and quantitative data;
(6) A dynamic and self-motivated professional.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive and in alignment with salaries paid by leading I/NGOs for similar roles. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
