1. POSITION(S) VACANT: ICT Assistant, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Delhi

 

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

 

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), formerly the United Nations Fund for Population Activities, is a UN organization working for reproductive rights for all and supports access to a wide range of sexual and reproductive health services including voluntary family planning, maternal health care and comprehensive sexuality education.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the ICT Associate shall be assisting in the implementation of ICT policies and standards, providing ICT and administrative support services and daily technical support to end users. The incumbent shall be supporting the management of the organization’s resources, assisting in implementing ICT standards and applications, managing data, information and workflow. S/He provide ICT and administrative support services and daily technical support to Country Office (CO) staff.

 

Key Deliverables:

 

(1) Supporting the implementation of ICT management systems and strategies; complying with corporate information technology standards for the CO;

(2) Supporting the use of Enterprise Resource Planning systems for improved business results and improved client services;

(3) Ensuring effective functioning of CO hardware and software packages; performing technical functions, including assisting with the installation and repair of commercial and in-house hardware and software applications; assisting with routine repairs, application management, maintaining supplies inventory; provision of support in backing up and restoring files, and virus prevention;

(4) Ensuring ICT security through restriction of administrative rights to prevent the loading of unauthorized software; ensuring that desktop, laptop and server passwords and related policies are in line with established corporate standards;

(5) Supporting networks administration, including the establishment of offsite backup, back up logs and restoration procedures; trouble-shooting network problems and responding to user needs regarding network access;

(6) Providing administrative support by managing software, hardware and parts, including the maintenance of an up to date inventory; maintaining CO databases and providing orientation and coaching to staff; maintaining a library of ICT related reference materials; preparation of statistical reports as required;

(7) Assisting in procurement of new equipment for the CO and project, provision of technical specification and information on best options in both local and international market;

(8) Maintaining Inventory and stock of supplies and spare parts in cooperation with the procurement unit;

(9) Providing support to programme teams in using new IT tools and applications;

(10) Carrying out any other duties as may be required by the supervisor.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualification:
(1) Applicant must have completed Secondary Level Education;

(2) University Degree in Computer Science shall be desirable.

 

Experience:

(1) Applicant must have six years of relevant working experience, including network administration, support to management of hardware and software platforms, telecommunications facilities, knowledge of Windows-based packages/applications
(2) Relevant certifications in hardware and software management and application including Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP);

(3) Good knowledge of PC/LAN operating systems, Microsoft Windows, corporate ICT security and viral protection systems, ERP;

(4) Some experience in client support, such as, a Help Desk or User Support Unit shall be desirable.

5. NATURE OF ENGAGEMENT:

 

The ICT Assistant shall be hired on a consultancy contract through Strategic Alliance Management Services P Ltd. (SAMS), a respected HR Agency.

 

6. REMUNERATION & PER DIEMS:

 

The selected candidate will be paid a consolidated amount of Rs. 50,000 – Rs. 80,000 per month and will commensurate with the experience/salary history of candidates.

 

7. LOCATION: Delhi

 

8. DURATION: The selected candidate shall be issued an initial consultancy contract till December 31, 2021, extendable subject to satisfactory performance.
