1. POSITION(S) VACANT: State Director, Wadhwani Initiative for Sustainable Healthcare (WISH) Foundation, Jaipur, Rajasthan



Wadhwani Initiative for Sustainable Healthcare (WISH) is the flagship program of the Lords Education and Health Society (LEHS), a Society registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860, head-quartered at New Delhi.


WISH works towards improving the accessibility and quality of primary healthcare for underserved communities in India, by implementing localized healthcare models developed in partnership with state governments, international agencies and the private sector, incorporating promising healthcare innovations into the same.


WISH’s vision is to provide high-quality, affordable and accessible primary care services to over 100 million of the poorest families in India and to an equal number in other developing countries by 2027.

About WISH’s Rajasthan Program:


LEHS-WISH and the Government of Rajasthan entered into a partnership in 2015 to roll-out the SCALE Program. 24 Rural PHCs, 99 Sub Health Centers and seven UPHCs have so far been operationalized in 13 districts of Rajasthan, under this initiative. Sub Health Centers have also been converted into Technology Enabled Health & Wellness Centres.


Key features of SCALE Rajasthan include the following:


(1) Demonstrating the impact of standalone/ networked devices and technologies to improve access to quality, affordable primary and preventive healthcare at the doorstep and subsequently scaling-up service delivery;

(2) Converting ailing government health facilities into smart facilities through PPP, to address deficiencies in infrastructure and trained manpower;

(3) Scaling-up of RMNCH+A best practices;

(4) Mainstreaming and sustaining the scaling-up of healthcare innovations in Rajasthan.



Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), WISH, the State Director shall be responsible for leading strategic direction, implementing structured employee practices, overseeing the team and motivating them to achieve operational excellence and strengthen the brand positioning/ value proposition of WISH, within the state of Rajasthan.


The post-holder shall be jointly responsible for the achievement of the organization’s strategic and operational targets and overall business objectives, at the state and national levels.


The incumbent must possess sound knowledge of Program, Financial and Human Resources Management and be able to lead a team of multidisciplinary professionals. The incumbent must also be familiar with the national and state-level public health regulatory environment.

Key Deliverables:

(1) Formulate and monitor the annual operating plan, in-line with the strategic objectives of the program and the organisation, ensuring the creation of evidences and delivery of outcomes;

(2) Oversee end-to-end state operations, ensuring their high quality, robust delivery and cost-effectiveness;

(3) Ensure robust systems and processes are established and implemented across programs and administration, to enable the seamless running of the state office;

(4) Conceptualize, design and implement program and donor initiatives within the state; 

(5) Represent LEHS-WISH at various internal and external forums, as mandated by the organization to showcase the efficacy of their programs;

(6) Deliver front-end advocacy and outreach of state programs, working with diverse stakeholders for the purpose;

(7) Ensure effective liaison with government, policy makers, partners, donors, vendors and private entities. Manage expectations of government officials and forge strong relationships with them, ensuring mutual support and collaboration to achieve/ exceed desired results;

(8) Ensure optimal manpower, competence, skill, knowledge, systems and tools, are always available within the state team for achieving program deliverables and organisational objectives;

(9) Own and manage budgets and ensure tight financial and operational control;

(10) Build and strengthen relationships with existing donors and mobilize funds/ resources.






Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine/ Social Sciences/ Management.



(1) Ph.D. in Health Sciences/ Public Health;

(2) Master’s Degree in Medicine/ Social Sciences/ Management.





(1) Minimum seven years of experience in programme management, preferably in the public health sector, of which at three years must be in leadership roles;

(2) Prior experience of being a part of or working in collaboration with Technical Support Units (TSUs)/ Project Management Units (PMUs);

(3) Publications on health and related issues to her/his credit.



Overall experience of 15-20 years in programme management within the health sector is desirable.

Gross compensation is budgeted at Rs. 24 lacs per annum for the position. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
