2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

 

Established in 2003, IIMPACT is an initiative of alumni of batch of 1978, from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, that provides primary education to young girls from socially and economically disadvantaged communities across India, with no access to schooling.

 

The vision and mission of IIMPACT is to transform the lives of women, families and entire communities in India by the education and empowerment of the girl child and to mobilize and motivate non-school going girls, between the ages of 6 and 14, from economically and socially backward rural areas and provide them high-quality, relevant education at IIMPACT Learning Centres.

 

IIMPACT has helped +50,000 girls in 1,500 villages in 11 states of India to date. Of these over 26,000 girls from have completed primary education at IIMPACT Learning Centres and joined mainstream, government-run, upper primary and secondary education institutions. Over the years, IIMPACT has developed a clear strategy and a proven delivery model in terms of social outcomes as well as scalability.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

IIMPACT wishes to hire a high-energy, result-oriented development professional, with a strong interest in providing primary education to disadvantaged young girls and proven competency in program management, as Program Manager – East Region (PMER).

 

Reporting to the COO, IIMPACT, the PMER shall be responsible for ensuring high-quality education of eligible girl children at IIMPACT Learning Centres, through the efficient rollout of various initiatives, strategies and plans, for children and teachers.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

 

(1) Facilitating and providing an ecosystem for child and teacher development in the community;

(2) Responsibility for the entire delivery (both operational and academic) of IIMPACT Learning Centres and Projects in the East Region, encompassing +500 Learning Centres across four states;

(3) Systematic planning and establishment of new IIMPACT Learning Centres after thorough study and survey of potential areas and identifying partner NGOs;

(4) Timely and outcome-oriented reporting to HO;

(5) Documenting relevant, local case studies, as well as collecting photographs for the IIMPACT library;

(6) Responsibility for directly managing and motivating an internal team comprising of three Program Officers and two Trainers, apart from providing indirect oversight and guidance to five Project-in-Charges/ Project Coordinators and around 40 supervisors, on the rolls of NGO partners;

(7) Collaborating and relationship building with partner NGOs to ensure on time and high-quality work, with a clear focus on deliverables and efficiency;

(8) Coordinating donor visits and ensuring positive donor visit feedback.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:       

 

Qualification:

Post Graduate degree in Social Sciences/ MSW, preferably with a specialization in Development or Education, from reputed academic institutions like Azim Premji University, or equivalent.

 

Experience:

(1) Minimum 10 years of experience in the relevant domain;

(2) Experience in primary education/ not for profit sector shall be an advantage;

(3) Prior experience of working at the block/ grassroots level, preferably in the states of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar, is desirable.

 

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Understanding of the working of the not for profit sector and primary education sector;

(2) Ability to understand the vision of the organisation and enable the team to achieve the same;

(3) Strong project management skills and process orientation;

(4) Proficient in the use of computers and standard MS Office applications;

(5) Strong analytical skills and ability to institute and correctly interpret MIS reports;

(6) Ability to work seamlessly with different stakeholders in the community;

(7) Good leadership and interpersonal skills;

(8) Ability and willingness to travel extensively, based on the needs of the job;

(9) Good written and verbal communication skills in English and basic knowledge of Hindi is essential. Knowledge of Bengali and local dialects of Bihar/ Jharkhand, shall be an advantage.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Remuneration for the position shall be a maximum of Rs. 600,000/- per annum. Please note that the organisation provides PF, Gratuity and Medical Insurance benefits to all staff.

 

6. LOCATION: This is a Kolkata based position. IIMPACT is willing to exceptionally consider positioning the PMER at Patna, Bihar or Ranchi, Jharkhand.
