1. POSITION(S) VACANT:  Program Manager, IIMPACT, Kolkata, West Bengal

 

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

 

Established in 2003, IIMPACT is an initiative of alumni of the batch of 1978, from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, providing primary education across India, to young girls from socially and economically disadvantaged communities, with no access to schooling.

 

The vision and mission of IIMPACT is to transform the lives of women, families, and entire communities in India by the education and empowerment of the girl child, by mobilizing and motivating non-school going girls, between the ages of 6 and 14, from economically and socially backward rural areas and providing them high-quality, relevant education at IIMPACT Learning Centres.

 

IIMPACT has helped +50,000 girls in 1,500 villages in 11 states of India, to date. Of these over 26,000 girls have completed primary education at IIMPACT Learning Centres and joined mainstream, government-run, upper primary and secondary education institutions. Over the years, IIMPACT has developed a clear strategy and a proven delivery model, both in terms of social outcomes, as well as scalability.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the Zonal Head, Program Quality, Operations and Partnerships, the Program Manager shall be responsible for managing IIMPACT programmes across four states in Eastern Region– Bihar, Jharkhand , Odisha , West Bengal. The incumbent shall have the following responsibilities:

 

Key Job Responsibilities:

 

(A) Learning Centres (LC)/ Teacher/ Community: Responsible for Quality Delivery (both operational and academic ) at LCs and Projects in the Region, Ensuring Child and Teacher Development:
(1) Undertake visits to villages / intervention areas/ undertake community meetings to support in better engagement of the community;
(2) Run periodic classroom observation to understand quality of teaching learning;
(3) Understand and address teacher challenges while attending Monthly Teacher Meeting/ Quarterly Teachers Training;
(4) Support in continuous improvement in Teacher Quality through onsite support, teacher trainings and study circles;
(5) Monitor Continuing Education and performance of girls after Graduating from the centres, along-with Partner NGO (PNGO).

 

(B) PNGO: Collaborating and Relationship Building with PNGO to Ensure on Time and High Quality Delivery:
(1) Induct and orient PNGO on IIMPACT Vision , Mission, objectives and approach of GCEP; Undertake capability building of PNGO as necessary;
(2) Continuously review the quality of implementation by organizing periodic review meetings, field visits and other measures;
(3) Assess PNGO Performance on set parameters;
(4) Ensure fiduciary compliances through periodic review and verification of partner expenditure, UCs and other requisites;
(5) Provide any other support which is required for successful implementation of program in the field.

 

(C) MIS & Data: Ensure Quality, Completeness and Timeliness of MIS Data:
(1) Ensure  timeliness, completeness and accuracy of MIS data sent by PNGOs through verification as per checklist;
(2) Respond and provide inputs to HO on any data requirement in a timely manner;
(3) Ensure usage of data / MIS reports in planning and for quality improvement.

 

(D) Donor Management:
(1) Coordinate Donor visits and ensure action on Donor feedback;
(2) Provide timely , quality inputs for the donor reports including case studies , photos etc. coordinating with the partner NGO;
(3) Support in interim information requirements by donor through providing needed info in timely manner.

 

(E) Team Management: Responsible for Managing, Developing and Motivating a Team of About 5 To 8 Professionals ( Including POs, TOs And LOs) Along With Indirect Oversight Of 7-8 Supervisors And Project -In-Charge Of PNGO:
(1) Support in appointment and induction of staff member in one’s field area;
(2) Conduct performance appraisals of direct reportees and provide feedback for improvement;
(3) Capability building of team on a continuous basis;
(4) Sign off on team’s monthly action plan; conduct monthly team review meetings to assess progress and take corrective measures;
(5) Ensure effective deployment of team to derive maximum value.

 

(F) Other:
(1) Coordinate with Finance dept. at HO for Expenses/ Approvals/Re-imbursements;
(2) Develop an yearly planner for implementation of various program activities in the field;
(3) Work with Training Dept. at HO on development of Training calendar for quarterly  training of teachers.

 

(G) IIMPACT Growth: Systematic Planning and Establishment of New LC After Thorough Study and Survey of Potential Areas and PNGO
(1) Survey of potential areas for LC;
(2) Survey of potential PNGOs to partner with for scale up;
(3) Promote IIMPACT Visibility in local events/ media;
(4) Represent IIMPACT in relevant meetings / dialogues at the local level.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualification:
Applicants must have a Master’s degree in social sciences, preferably education.

 

Experience:
(1) Applicant must have 7-10 years of experience of managing education programmes.

 

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Good knowledge of networking, partnership and team management skills are must;
(2) Skills for planning and management as well as reporting;  
(3) Good understanding of education of marginalized and deprived;
(4) Good understanding of data for better planning;
(5) Good written and verbal communication skills in English and basic knowledge of Hindi is essential. Knowledge of Bengali/ Oriya shall be an advantage;
(6) Financial acumen, facility with the figures would be an added advantage;
(7) Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the field areas (minimum 15 days in a month);
(8) Good understanding of data management and interpretation.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is Rs. 6-9 lacs per annum. The actual offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
