1. POSITION VACANT: Communication Officer, Bharat Rural Livelihood Foundation, New Delhi

 

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

 

Government of India (GOI) has initiated Bharat Rural Livelihoods Foundation (BRLF) as an independent organization under the Societies Registration Act to facilitate civil society action in partnership with State and Central Government, for transforming livelihoods and lives of rural households, with an emphasis on women, particularly in the Central Indian Tribal Region.

 

BRLF is a unique and first-of-its-kind initiative, and the Foundation is constituted as a partnership between Government on the one hand and private sector philanthropies, public and private sector undertakings (under Corporate Social Responsibility) on the other. Major functions of BRLF is to provide financial grants to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to meet their human resource and institutional costs for up-scaling of proven interventions, invest in institutional strengthening of smaller CSOs and capacity building of professional human resources working at the grassroots.

 

The General Body and Executive Committee of BRLF are constituted by eminent individuals as well as ex-officio representatives from private philanthropies, public and private sector organizations, financial institutions, State Governments and GOI.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the Head- Strategic Partnerships & Resource Mobilization, BRLF, the Communication Officer shall work in close coordination with all the verticals and shall be responsible for the following:

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Develop a fine-tuned branding/ communication strategy with the objective of:
(a) Increase visibility of BRLF’s work;
(b) Augment resource mobilization;
(c) Build the brand of the organisation;
(d) Foster stakeholder engagement for strategic partnerships;

 

The outcomes from BRLF’s communication strategy is to significantly augment funding for BRLF, promote strategic partnerships and maximum eyeballs of target audience for awareness generation about BRLF;

 

(2) Execute the communication strategy through a well thought through communication plan to include defining target audiences and understanding their medium consumption for optimal targeting, evaluate existing communication activities of BRLF, content generation, appropriate media selection-social and conventional, content placement-ATL, BTL, on ground and lay down measurement metrices for the communication activities; 
(3) Possess extensive understanding of various social and conventional medium along with cost benefit analysis;

(4) Understand players in the media industry for placement of communication campaign and materials;
(5) Creation of content in house or through external agencies;
(6) Selection and contracting of traditional and social media agencies for placement and obtaining value for money for communication activities;
(7) Possess understanding of media monitoring and analytics for assessing the impact of BRLF’s communication activities;
(8) Work with various BRLF verticals in being able to deliver the various tasks in the job description;
(9) Edit communication material required for various projects, programmes and events including annual report;
(10) Oversee BRLF’s website;
(11) Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualifications:
Applicants must have a post-graduation in Communications Management/ Journalism from a recognized University or equivalent.

 

Experience:
Applicant must possess minimum five years of relevant work experience in the field of communications preferably in development sector.

 

Essential Skills and Competencies:
(1) Outstanding communication (both verbal and written) and networking skills;
(2) Excellent computer skills; working knowledge and capabilities using design software and Adobe Creative Cloud programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Corel Draw and Illustrator) will be preferred;
(3) Working knowledge and capabilities using video editing software will be preferred;
(4) Advanced knowledge of grammar, usage, and editorial style and guidelines.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is Rs. 10-12 lacs per annum. The compensation offered to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and past salary history.

 

6. LOCATION: New Delhi

 

7. APPOINTMENT: This is a full-time position, and the initial contract will be offered for a period of three years, which shall be renewable based on performance.
