1. POSITION VACANT: District Coordinator CMAM (DC), UNICEF, Koraput, Odisha

 

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

 

UNICEF is a United Nations agency responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. The organization works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence.

 

UNICEF is supporting Centre of Excellence (CoE), Orissa, in capacity building, monitoring and knowledge management initiatives for strengthening the facility and community based management of sever acute malnutrition in Odisha.

 

The CoE shall be established at Sishu Bhawan, Cuttack which is one of the oldest medical training and teaching institutes of Odisha. The establishment of the COE-cum–State Resource Training Center will aim to build the capacity of all staff on NRCs across the state in a phased manner; support monitoring of NRC indicators and need-based rapid assessments; support documentation of the implantation of CMAM and best practices in SAM management and to guide the state on evolving technical components under SAM management and facilitate convergent actions by multiple department.

 

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Key Deliverables:
(1) Provide technical support to Department of Health and Family welfare and Women and Child development of Koraput district for adherence of CMAM protocols;

(2) Support in capacity building of AWWs, ASHAs and ANMs on CMAM programme;

(3) Conduct monitoring and supportive supervision field visits to support the AAAs in implementation of CMAM program;

(4) Support in the initiative of community mobilization for CMAM in the district;

(5) Support the district in data analysis on identification of children with SAM, CMAM register, child details, history of illness, sanitation practices and other socio-economic details;

(6) Plan and review the activities in field for the enrollment and follow-up of children with SAM;

(7) Support the district in planning of follow-up for defaulters to minimize the loss to follow-up;

(8) Conduct quality checks of at least 10% of the data;

(9) Maintain co-ordination between UNICEF Odisha, NHM/DHFW-Odisha & DWCD &MS, MOs, CDPOs and frontline workers of ICDS and Health department;

(10) Co-ordinate with NCoE-SAM, KSCH, UNICEF Odisha, NHM/DHFW-Odisha and DWCD &MS for receiving inputs on the project and execution;

(11) Provide regular updates to CoE-Child Health and Nutrition, UNICEF Odisha, NHM-Odisha and DWCD &MS on the progress of the study;

(12) Participate in the review/progress meetings as and when scheduled;

(13) Any other responsibilities assigned by CoE-Child Health and Nutrition, DWCD and UNICEF related to the project.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualification:

(1) M.Sc. in Nutrition/ Public Health/ Microbiology/ Food Technology;
(2) Candidates with Masters in Social Science and have substantial experience in nutrition/ public health, can also be considered.

 

Experience:

(1) Minimum five years of work experience in field of Health or Nutrition of which at least three years of experience in the management of children with acute malnutrition, capacity building, program planning, implementation, monitoring evaluation, data analysis and report writing.

 

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Good negotiation and influencing skills supported by excellent communication skills;
(2) Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills in English;
(3) Computer proficiency with specific familiarity with commonly used Windows and MS Office software;
(4) Knowledge of Oriya is desirable;
(5) Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment with strong facilitation skills, ability to analyze reports, plan and monitor projects.

 

5. ESTIMATED TRAVEL: The post requires field work and extensive local and outstation travel.

 

6. AGE LIMIT: The candidate’s age should not be more than 35 years.

 

7. REMEUNERATION, DSA:

 

Remuneration payable to the selected candidate in the form of professional fees shall be attractive and in alignment with market norms.

 

8. LOCATION: CoE, Captial Hospital, Koraput, Odisha

 

9. DURATION: The successful candidate shall be issued a consultancy contract for the period July-December 2021, however, another 12 months extension (till December 2022) may be considered based on the requirement for the position, performance, and funds available.
