1. POSITION VACANT: Consultant (Documentation and Hindi Language), Bharat Rural Livelihood Foundation, New Delhi (One Vacancy)

 

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

 

Government of India (GOI) has initiated Bharat Rural Livelihoods Foundation (BRLF) as an independent organization under the Societies Registration Act to facilitate civil society action in partnership with State and Central Government, for transforming livelihoods and lives of rural households, with an emphasis on women, particularly in the Central Indian Tribal Region.

 

BRLF is a unique and first-of-its-kind initiative and the Foundation is constituted as a partnership between Government on the one hand and private sector philanthropies, public and private sector undertakings (under Corporate Social Responsibility) on the other. Major functions of BRLF is to provide financial grants to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to meet their human resource and institutional costs for up-scaling of proven interventions, invest in institutional strengthening of smaller CSOs and capacity building of professional human resources working at the grassroots.

 

The General Body and Executive Committee of BRLF are constituted by eminent individuals as well as ex-officio representatives from private philanthropies, public and private sector organizations, financial institutions, State Governments and GOI.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Consultant (Documentation and Hindi Language) shall be responsible for the following:

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Write minutes of Executive Committee, General Body and other important meetings;

(2) Translate documents from Hindi to English and vice-versa;

(3) Draft letters, note for record, minutes of meeting, contract, circular, write-up for annual report or any other official document etc. in Hindi;

(4) Check and edit translated materials, annual report or any other document;

(5) Follow up and compliance elating to Official Language Policy of Govt with reference to:

(a) Acquaint BRLF team with the Official Language Act, Rules and other important orders relating to the implementation of Official Language and to assist and support staff in its implementation;

(b) Check progress on use of Official Language in BRLF and arrange Hindi Training sessions for BRLF team members;

(c) Prepare yearly action plans in accordance with the annual programme for the implementation of Official Language and to achieve the targets in implementation of Official Language;

(d) Conduct quarterly meetings of the Official Language Implementation Committee (OLIC) of BRLF to review the progress of Hindi. Organize Hindi Week and Hindi Seminar every year and conducting Hindi Workshops every quarter to encourage staff members for using Hindi in their day-to-day Official works;

(e) Prepare and submit various forms/ questionnaire/ reports relating to Hindi and to coordinate with Hindi section of MoRD;

 

(6) Coordinate with design agencies for developing various reports, brochure, modules etc. relating to language and translation of material;

(7) Perform any other work as assigned.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualifications:
Applicants must have Master’s degree in Hindi, with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level, from a recognized university;

OR

Master’s degree from a recognized University in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level, from a recognized university;

And

Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English or vice versa or three years’ experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Government, or in Government created missions/ societies;

 

Experience:
(1) Applicant must have minimum seven years’ experience in documentation and language department of a large development sector organisation or central/ state govt department;

(2) Prior experience of working in rural livelihoods domain shall be given preference.

 

Essential Skills and Competencies:
(1) Expert knowledge of MS Office;

(2) Ability to work in a multi-cultural/ multi-disciplinary team;

(3) Ability to multi-task with quick turnaround time;

(4) Ability to work closely with and participate actively and in a fully co-operative manner as a member of a broader team;

(5) Fluency in oral and written communication in English and Hindi;

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is Rs. 40,000/- per month. The actual offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.

 

6. LOCATION: New Delhi

 

7. APPOINTMENT: This is a contractual engagement for a period of six months. The engagement may be renewed/ extended, based on the performance and/or requirement of the organization.
