PURPOSE OF THE POST

 

Smile Train India wishes to recruit an outstanding fundraising professional, to fill the vacancy for Manager- Development (MD). The post-holder shall be responsible for securing funds through her/his own networks and fostering new relationships to support the organization’s mission across India.

 

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the Senior Director- Communications and Business Development, the Manager- Development will work closely with the team across India to raise funds from Individual Donors, HNIs, Community Supporters and Foundations.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Manage day to day functioning of third-party fundraising operations, including close coordination with the third-party fundraising agencies, setting up new campaigns, liaising with call centre(s), and tracking collections and receipts;
(2) Support the donor retention and communication program;
(3) Manage, develop and expand the organization’s database and portfolio of mid-level donors and prospects;

(4) Prepare reports and acknowledgement letters for major donors; Maintain electronic donor files;

(5) Liaise with the Finance Department to track and process any in-house donations;
(6) Identify, cultivate, and solicit new gift prospects, including HNIs, from outside the existing donor base;
(7) Build a community of supporters and donors in schools, colleges, and other educational institutions; Maintain existing relationships;
(8) Build an employee-giving program for Smile Train India liaising with and requesting HR Departments of corporates for permission to conduct orientation programs for their employees on Smile Train’s work, for obtaining company and/or individual sign-ups;
(9) Identify prospects by conducting research on individuals, family foundations, and the creation of donor profiles;
(10) Assist with special events, including donor cultivation and stewardship events;
(11) Support other activities of the Fundraising and Communications Department, as per requirements;

(12) Maintain electronic donor files;
(13) Coordinate with colleagues to identify opportunities that will benefit the organization.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Bachelors’ degree from a reputed institution.

 

Experience:

(1) Applicants must have a minimum of four years’ of experience, with prior exposure to fundraising for not-for-profit organizations;
(2) Experience of managing third party fundraising vendors, is essential.

 

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, with a strong ROI orientation;

(2) Strong strategic, analytical, and persuasive skills;

(3) Ability to network and leverage contacts and connections, as well as prioritize, whilst working under multiple deadlines;

(4) Detail-oriented, with the ability to effectively collect, analyze, organize, distill, and present information;
(5) Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
(6) Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills;
(7) Ability to maintain perspective and a sense of humor.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.

 

6. LOCATION: Delhi (The position is based in New Delhi but the incumbent can be posted  in other offices, located across India).

 

(Note: The Manager- Development shall be based at New Delhi and expected to work from home until the pandemic ends. The post-holder shall work from the Smile Train India Office in New Delhi, thereafter.)
