Yuva Shakti is a newly launched initiative to build youth leadership and agency around a commitment to constitutional values and deepening democracy.

 

Yuva Shakti is launching a one-year pilot programme at three sites – Samastipur in Bihar, Kalpi in Uttar Pradesh and Nelamangala in Karnataka. The platform hopes to mobilise 50,000 young people at each site into vibrant, cadre-based, youth-led organisations and reach another 5 million people through the digital media.

 

Yuva Shakti is looking for bright, young and committed women and men to join its team. The positions available are as follows:

 

A. Site Leads – Samastipur, Kalpi, Nelamangala

 

S/he would lead a team of 10-12 persons located at the Site Office and at the block level. Responsibilities will include design of the local implementation strategy, ensuring delivery of all programmatic outcomes and overseeing the quality and timely delivery of all the interventions at the site level. The position requires extensive travel.

 

Applicants should have at least four to six years of experience in community mobilisation and campaigning, especially in a rural context. People skills, ability to meet deadlines and fluency in the local language and English are essential. Those with experience of working with young people and in-depth knowledge of local social, cultural and political domains, would be preferred. A graduate/ bachelor’s degree in social sciences is a must and those with higher degrees would be at an advantage.

 

B. Deputy Site Lead – Kalpi, Uttar Pradesh

 

Apart from supporting the Site Leads in the design of the local implementation strategy and ensuring delivery of all programmatic outcomes, s/he would independently work closely with the panchayat and village teams, to develop village-level cadres, liaise with block and panchayat officials and elected members and prepare site level reports. The position requires extensive travel.

 

Applicants should have at least three years’ experience in community mobilisation and campaigning, especially in a rural context, ability to meet deadlines and fluency in the local language and English. Those with experience in working with young people and in-depth knowledge of local social, cultural and political domains would be preferred. A graduate/ bachelor’s degree in social sciences is a must.
