1. POSITION(S) VACANT: Digital Media Manager, HelpAge India, New Delhi

 

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

 

HelpAge India is a secular, apolitical, non-profit and non-governmental organization, registered under the Indian Societies' Registration Act of 1860. It voices the concerns of India’s elderly. Formed in 1978, its mission is “to work for the cause and care of disadvantaged older persons and to improve their quality of life”.

 

HelpAge India is one of the founding members of HelpAge International, a high profile confederation of non-profits from 97 member countries, representing the cause of the elderly at the United Nations.

 

It works in the following areas of Elder Care:

a) Healthcare

b) Agecare

c) Livelihood

d) Advocacy

 

Currently there are an estimated 106 million elderly in India. HelpAge advocates for their needs such as for Universal pension, quality healthcare, food security, action against Elder Abuse and many more at a the national, state and societal level with Central and State governments. It advocates for elder friendly policies and their implementation thereof.

 

The aim is to serve elder needs in a holistic manner, enabling them to live active, dignified and healthier lives. Therefore, HelpAge provides elderly relief through various agecare interventions such as - it runs one of the largest mobile healthcare programs through its Mobile Healthcare Units spanning the country providing free healthcare services to destitute elders, provides Physiocare & also Cancer care services to terminally ill elders, it helps elders become self-reliant and independent through the formation of Elder-Self-Help Groups, conducts cataract surgeries to restore their sight, looks after their basic needs though its Support-a-Gran program, provides Homecare support to bed ridden patients & trains carers, runs Elder Helplines across the country, provides relief & rehabilitation for elders post disasters and provides Active Ageing opportunities.

 

It works hand-in-hand with Senior Citizens Associations understanding elder needs working with and for them. It empowers senior citizens through Digital Literacy workshops so they can keep pace with the online world and become independent, and makes them aware of Policies, Schemes and Acts beneficial to them, especially the Maintenance & Welfare of Parents & Senior Citizens Act.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the Head of Communications, the Digital Media Manager shall be responsible for managing the overall digital communications function of HelpAge India.

 

Key Responsibilities:

(1) Developing and spearheading the organizational Digital Strategy for HelpAge;

(2) Social Media Communication:

(a) Creating specific infographics for social platforms of HelpAge, as and when required;
(b) Preparing content calendar for all social media platforms;
(c) Measuring impact through analytics tools for all online communication platforms;
(d) Extensive storytelling on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, through HelpAge’s videos and photo content;
(e) Constant cultivation of relationships with HelpAge’s corporate and individual donors, answering online queries on donations, missing people reports and liaising with other Departments and State Offices internally at HelpAge, as well as at external stakeholder organizations, to further the cause of the elderly online;
(f) Drafting Social Media update reports every quarter;

(3) Developing brand awareness and exercising constant vigil on the organization’s online reputation, on a 365*24*7 basis;
(4) Developing social media partnerships;
(5) Conceptualizing creative campaigns on social media;
(6) Overseeing and supervising HelpAge website analytics and response vis-à-vis interlinking website, with HelpAge India’s other social platforms;
(7) Managing organizational website SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and generation of inbound traffic through social media.
(8) Driving donations using social media.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualification:

Applicants must be graduate in English (Hons.) / Journalism/ Mass Media/ related fields.

 

Experience:
Applicants must have at least three years of experience in the social media and digital space.

 

Skills and Competencies:

1. Excellent written, as well as oral, communication skills;

2. Should have a good design skill set.

3. Good presentation and PR skills, with hands-on experience of going to the field and executing communication projects at the ground level;

4. Should have a creative mind;

5. Updated knowledge of current trends in the digital field;

6. Demonstrable sensitivity to the cause of the organization;

7. Demonstrable ability to take initiative;

8. Willing to travel outstation, as necessary.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Gross compensation for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
