1. POSITION VACANT:  Head - Natural Resource Management, Jankidevi Bajaj Gram Vikas Sanstha, Pune, Maharashtra

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
:
 

The Bajaj Group of companies have a strong CSR commitment, guided by the vision and philosophy of its Founder, the late Shri Jamnalal Bajaj. All CSR activities of the Bajaj Group are coordinated and undertaken through the Jankidevi Bajaj Gram Vikas Sanstha (JBGVS), the apex society and non-profit organisation of the group, established in 1987 and named after the late Padma Vibhushan Shrimati Jankidevi Bajaj.

 

JBGVS works single-mindedly towards bridging the divide between urban and rural India, through integrated rural development interventions, designed with a view to ensuring achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. JBGVS interventions focus on five major areas, that include, Education, Healthcare, Environment, Economic Development and Social Development.

 

JBGVS acts as a catalyst and assists the participating rural community in selected villages in improving their quality of life, through poverty alleviation, empowerment of women, gender equality and the development of human and natural resources, while promoting ecological balance. JBGVS works directly in 110 villages in Maharashtra and Rajasthan and indirectly reaches out to more than 1,000 villages across the country. All JBGVS initiatives are designed in consultation with and the active participation of the local village community, for better acceptability and successful implementation.

 

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the CEO, JBGVS, the Head - Natural Resource Management (HNRM) shall be responsible for managing all program processes in respect of the organization’s portfolio of Natural Resource management (NRM) projects, as well as, related infrastructure development.

 

S/he will work closely with the CSR team, collaborators, partners and direct implementation team of JBGVS, to engage with communities in rural as well as urban settings. The HNRM shall build the capacity of partner community-based institutions and cadres of paraprofessionals supporting the organization to analyze, assess and develop interventions for the conservation of natural resources (viz. soil, water, vegetation), that are participatory, replicable and sustainable.

Key Deliverables:
(1) Develop and manage NRM project processes in close collaboration with stakeholders, partners and collaborators, using participatory tools and techniques;
(2) Implement NRM interventions at the local and regional level ensuring uniformity at the macro level and diversity at the micro level;
(3) Determine and build capacities of the cadre of local paraprofessionals in natural resource management sub-sectors like, river rejuvenation, watershed management, soil health management, vegetation and livestock, etc.;

(4) Facilitate the evolution of scientific Value Chain Approach (VCA), including the articulation of critical outcomes, applying local tactics, indigenous yet tested and scientific technologies and materials, engaging with appropriate agencies to handle NRM initiatives;

(5) Facilitate institutionalization of VCA at the village, cluster, sub regional and regional levels and enable process innovation and economic gains;
(6) Facilitate evolution of the repository of natural resource management development framework and information processes within the organization, enabling their smooth access and retrieval by interested stakeholders, including the CSR community;

(7) Facilitate evolution and deployment of well-articulated SOPs within the overarching framework of the JBGVS;

(8) Assist the multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary teams and senior management at JBGVS across geographies, with expert inputs on NRM sectors and sub sectors including, water, soil, livestock, value chain, supply chain, etc.;

(9) Provide inputs in developing the BCC tools for skill upgradation to the JBGVS team and/or its partners, collaborators, communities, etc.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualification:

(1) Master’s Degree in Rural Development, or Agriculture, Agriculture Engineering, or Civil Engineering, or Environmental Sciences, or relevant discipline, preferably from a top-tier institute.

(2) Certified by any national/ international level accreditation body on the above vertical and membership of any professional body is desirable.

 

Experience:
(1) 8-10 years of experience of working on environmental management and natural resource management projects, with focus on biodiversity conservation, sustainable forestry, climate change mitigation, sustainable agricultural intensification, watershed development and management of ecosystem services;
(Note: Candidates falling short of the prescribed number of years of experience, but possessing quality/ exceptionally relevant experience, may also be considered.)

(2) Proven experience in rural livelihood research and methodology;

(3) Expertise in securing sustainability and gender involvement.

 

Skills and Competencies:

(1) In-depth understanding of the keys issues impacting environmental management and natural resource management, pros and cons and costs of alternative approaches, is essential;

(2) Well versed with the Environmental Impact Assessment framework, LFA and M&E tools to manage the theory of change;

(3) Familiarity with NGO community and managing relationships with leading NGOs working in the area of natural resource management, specifically in Maharashtra/ Rajasthan/ Uttarakhand will be an added advantage;

(4) Familiarity with online CSR MIS (Goodera P3);

(5) Knowledge of developing M&E and planning tools like LOGFRAME, etc.;

(6) Knowledge of CSR regulations and requirements;

(7) Excellent negotiation, influencing and communication skills;
(8) Excellent oral, written and presentation skills in English;
(9) Computer proficiency with expertise in Windows, MS Office and database software;
(10) Demonstratable ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment with strong facilitation skills, ability to analyze reports, plan and monitor projects;

(11) Should be able to take long strenuous job assignments with verve and vigor;

(12) Willing to travel in rural areas.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Gross compensation for the position is Rs. 12 lacs per annum. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.

 

6. AGE LIMIT: This shall be a travel intensive role across all intervention areas of JBGVS and accordingly the preferred age for the incumbent shall be 35-45 years.

 

7. APPOINTMENT: The initial contract will be offered for a period of one year and shall be renewable based on performance.
