Senior Director- Fundraising, Marketing and Communications

1. POSITION(S) VACANT: Senior Director- Fundraising, Marketing and Communications (SD-FRMC), International Non-profit Organisation, NCR

 

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

Our client is a respected, International Non-profit Organisation (INPO), focusing on ending poverty and social injustice through comprehensive programmes in health, education, livelihoods and disaster preparedness and response across the globe.

 

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:


Reporting to the CEO, the Senior Director- Fundraising, Marketing and Communications (SD-FRMC) shall have overall responsibility for leading the development and implementation of fundraising, public engagement, and marketing and brand building strategies, across the organization.

 

S/he will lead diverse and innovative fundraising strategies, involving institutional donors, corporate alliances, individual acquisition and retention, supporter engagement and High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI). S/he will also steer and track the accomplishment of the fundraising targets, to support the programmes and growth of the organization.

 

The post-holder shall lead a team of fundraising and development/ marketing professionals to achieve significant fundraising growth and strengthen the organisation’s brand in India. S/he will also work in close coordination with the Board and/or its Committees to raise and address critical issues regarding FRMC strategic priorities.

 

S/he will also represent the organisation to the Global Fundraising Leadership team, with the aim of contributing to the development of resource mobilisation plans for the organisation globally, sharing lessons learned and contributing to the development and delivery of the organization’s long-term global strategies.

 

Key Job Responsibilities:
 

(A) Leadership and Management:

 

(1) Work closely with the CEO and the Senior Leadership Team and provide leadership to the organisation as a whole;
(2) Lead a cohesive team to facilitate collaboration with other relevant staff and teams across internal and external channels to ensure timely and effective performance management of direct reportees;
(3) Work closely with HR in the development and implementation of key strategic HR

processes such as recruitment, talent management and learning and staff development initiatives.
 

(B) Fundraising:

 

(1) Lead the development and implementation of a fundraising strategy that underpins the organisation’s strategic goals to accelerate growth in a sustainable manner across a diverse range of donor streams and embed a culture of fundraising across the organisation;
(2) Work closely with the CEO to develop a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) framework and reporting systems, which provide the basis for performance management across the fundraising team, in line with the milestones agreed upon as per the Annual Operating Plan;
(3) Establish a range of new funding streams, with particular emphasis on the application of digital technology such as the use of Crowdfunding, as the basis for establishing a more diverse range of funding;
(4) Establish structure, processes, competencies and systems to ensure that the FRMC department is fully equipped to accelerate growth, establish a diversified and sustainable income base and contribute towards programme efficiency;
(5) To be responsible and accountable for setting fundraising targets in restricted and unrestricted resources to meet the organisation’s strategic and operational priorities; Revise and readjust the same to stay connected with market realities;
(6) Commission and conduct required research, gather appropriate intelligence and

data, and use those in designing Development Plans, which are to be shared and updated;
(7) Set aggressive income targets for each of the department heads under this position, allocate resources to pursue those income targets, adopt innovative approaches to tap the growing and rapidly changing market, and ensuring that the targets are met; Hold each of the direct reportees accountable for meeting their respective income targets;
(8) Facilitate emergency responses and finances rapidly, in line with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of each team;
(9) Support selected Member Partners in enhancing their fundraising;
(10) Explore, develop and expand diaspora fundraising for the organisation, jointly with other International members of the organisation and the Secretariat.

 

(C) Brand Building, Marketing and Communications:

 

(1) Oversee the implementation and measurement of the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations programme that will enhance the organisation’s image and position it in the marketplace and general public, while facilitating all internal as well as external communications;

(2) Broad involvement areas shall include organisation marketing, communications and public relations activities, as well as being an integral part of publication production, media relations, donor acquisition etc.;
(3) Strengthen the organisation’s position as a high value-adding member and partner of its International Confederation and with external stakeholders, such as funding agencies, the corporate sector, institutional donors and the Indian public;
(4) Accurate articulation of the organisation’s vision and mission, ensuring consistent communication of the organisation’s image and position to internal and external constituencies and the production of quality content from organisation’s programmes for dissemination to stakeholders;
(5) Ensure that the organisation regularly conducts relevant market research, coordinating and overseeing this activity to monitor trends.
 

(D) Financial and Resource Management:

 

(1) Lead annual and periodic budgeting for direct fundraising, corporate and institutional partnership teams and brand building;
(2) Prepare annual departmental operation plans, resource allocations and clear ROI

estimation for such allocations;
(3) Monitor progress against agreed objectives, on a monthly and quarterly basis;
(4) Ensure management of required procurement and contracting of external services, in line with organisational policies;
(5) Work with peer Directors for Programming, Operations and Finance and their teams, to

ensure highly effective and efficient back-office support mechanisms for facilitating speedy and high-quality support services for fundraising, brand building and marketing;
(6) Provide strong stewardship of organisational resources and ethical utilisation of funds;
(7) Ensure that audit recommendations for the team are followed through;
(8) Collaborate with relevant units to reduce/ prevent questioned costs, disallowed costs and non-compliances.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualification
Applicants must be postgraduates in Communications, Management, Social Sciences, or other relevant discipline.

 

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of 15 to 18 years of experience in fundraising, marketing and communications, with a proven track record demonstrating:


(1) Leadership of high-performance fundraising teams, within Indian and/ or regional markets;

(2) Successful fundraising, achieving ambitious targets and securing large grants, both in unrestricted and restricted funding;

(3) Familiarity with current legislation and regulations relevant to fundraising in India, as well as an awareness of the global fundraising ecosystem and environment;

(4) Experience in financial planning, forecasting, fundraising investment and budgeting;

 

Experience in direct marketing shall be an advantage.

 

Skills and Competencies

(1) Sound understanding of the development sector and programmes;
(2) Good understanding of the market and its drivers for raising resources;
(3) Strong strategic fundraising leadership skills;
(4) Strong relationship management and negotiation skills;
(5) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organisation;
(6) Excellent understanding of the principles of all fundraising activities, specifically direct debit/ regular giving donor cycles, direct marketing, corporate and trust fundraising, legacies and major gifts;
(7) Excellent staff management skills and the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of employees;
(8) Ability to demonstrate strong ‘shared leadership’ with peers and lead participatory organisational management.

(9) Willingness and ability to travel extensively.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:


Gross compensation for the position ranges from Rs. 35 to 40 lacs per annum. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.

6. LOCATION: NCR with domestic travel to meet donors, partners. International travel, as and when required.
