3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the HQ Chief Financial Officer at Seattle, with a dotted line reporting to the Vice President of India, Global Programs, located in Delhi, the Asia Finance and Accounts Specialist (AFAS) shall be responsible for providing accounting and reporting support to SightLife’s Asia teams, currently based in Delhi and Beijing.

 

The AFAS shall be responsible for the consistent application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, maintenance of statutory records and ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Companies Act, Income tax Act, GST, FCRA, internal policies and procedures, and financial standards of SightLife for US, India and China. S/he shall also liaise between the India, China and HQ Finance teams to ensure the smooth conduct of day to day operations.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:


(1) Monthly accounting closure in accordance with deadlines set for Asia accounting operations, which shall entail:

 

(a) Preparing payments by accruing expenses;

(b) Reviewing of invoices and staff claims;

(c) Ledger and bank reconciliation;

(d) Submission of closure report

 

(2) Preparation of general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; Review of accounts payable invoices for accuracy and completeness;

(3) Communication with customers and vendors regarding A/R and A/P matters and acting as point of contact for administrative/ payment issues with vendors, ensuring approval of invoices and timely payment to vendors; Assistance with the preparation and placement of purchase orders;

(4) Close collaboration with the US HQ Finance team to meet local accounting requirements, understanding exchange rate impacts and minimizing organizational risk;

(5) Processing of payroll and other vendor payments in a timely manner;

(6) Coordination with the Global team for payments across different regions;

(7) Preparation of monthly tax liability computation, ensuring timely deposit at respective departments and reconciliation of tax returns. Also, preparation of final tax reconciliation reports;

(8) Liaising with banks for all banking related requirements;

(9) Answering accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data; Serving as a point of contact with HQ Finance team, assisting with provision of documentation and timely response to requests;

(10) Leading partner financial monitoring in partnership with the Program team; Conducting due diligence and reporting; Building capacity of the accounting team;

(11) Ensuring donor compliance with focus on supporting the Program team with the provision of timely and accurate financial information for reporting;

(12) Leading budgeting and quarterly reforecasting for India and other Asian geographies in coordination with the Program and Global Finance team;

(13) Submission of monthly fund requirement and coordination for the timely transfer of funds from HQ;

(14) Preparing monthly management information system reports for the team, maintaining a rhythm of review;

(15) Coordinating and facilitating monthly financial review with Global senior management team;

(16) Collaborating with local and corporate audit entities to ensure compliance with requirements for the timely conduct of audit of books of accounts;

(17) Preparing and providing variance analysis for budget vs. actual reports;

(18) Protecting the organization's value by keeping confidential information intact;

(19) Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional events;

(20) Performing other duties as required;

(21) Supporting the mission, vision, and values of SightLife in the conduct of all daily activities.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:       

 

Qualifications:

Applicants must have an MBA or a Masters’ degree in Accounts, Finance, or equivalent. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Accounts and exceptional professional experience shall also be considered.

 

Experience:

Minimum six years of experience in the field of accounts.

 

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Excellent knowledge of accounting, international accounting and familiarity with statutory requirements, including income tax, GST, SFAS rules, etc;

(2) Familiarity with Society’s Act and/or FCRA will be an asset;

(3) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, particularly in spoken and written English and Hindi;

(4) Ability to meet deadlines;

(5) Ability to manage timely delivery of activities;

(6) Excellent reporting skills;

(7) Attention to detail, confidentiality and productivity;

(8) Proficiency in Tally is preferred;

(9) Expertise in the use of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook);

(10) A personal commitment to organ and tissue donation;

(11) Knowledge of NetSuite is desirable.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Gross compensation for the position shall be attractive. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
