Senior Manager/ Associate Director - Skill-ed

1. POSITION VACANT: Senior Manager/ Associate Director – Skill-ed, Chennai/ Bangalore, India (One Vacancy)

 

2. ORGANISATION BACKGROUND:

 

Our client is a highly reputed NGO that believes, every underprivileged child deserves quality education and works toward transforming India through volunteering with a vision of making volunteering a national habit.

 

The Skill-Ed programme of our client improves employability of youth by upskilling that widens their career opportunities and secures a sustainable livelihood. Skill-Ed is focussed on IT and soft-skills training.

 

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the Director Programme, the Senior Manager/ Associate Director – Skill-ed shall be responsible for efficient and effective running of the programme and for driving the overall strategic direction of the program. S/he will have to ensure 10x more youth in sustainable careers over the next 3 years. The key responsibilities are including but not limited to the following:

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

A. Strategic Planning and Objective Setting:

(1) Developing a comprehensive roadmap for the team's activities over the next 5 years, outlining key objectives and key results (OKRs) for each year;

(2) Collaborating with team members to define clear and achievable objectives aligned with organizational goals;

(3) Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress towards strategic objectives and ensure accountability.

 

B. Skill Assessment and Curriculum Development Support:

(1) Conducting research to identify the skills currently in demand in the industry, considering market trends, technological advancements, and evolving job roles;

(2) Collaborating with industry experts, employers, and stakeholders to gather insights into the skills needed for career readiness and workforce development;

(3) Helping Develop a comprehensive curriculum that provides exposure and hands-on training in the identified skill areas, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices;

(4) Integrating experiential learning opportunities, practical projects, and industry-relevant certifications to enhance the employability and marketability of youth participants.

 

C. Program Management and Operational Oversight:

(1) Providing leadership and direction to ensure the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the organization, including session delivery, assessments, impact evaluation, volunteer mobilization, communication, budgeting, and finance;

(2) Implementing systems and processes to monitor and evaluate program performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous enhancement of program effectiveness;

(3) Managing budgeting and financial processes to ensure resources are allocated effectively and transparently to support program activities.

 

D. Program Development and Stakeholder Engagement:

(1) Developing structures and systems to facilitate program execution, emphasizing continuous learning, improvement, and rapid growth;

(2) Identify and engage with key stakeholders, including Academic Institutions, NGOs, corporates, funders, government agencies, and community organizations;

(3) Foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders to leverage resources, expertise, and networks in support of program objectives.

 

E. Advocacy and Partnership Development:

(1) Establish Learning and Development programs for trainers, providing ongoing training and resources to ensure they remain updated on industry advancements and possess the capacity to effectively deliver skill-building sessions;

(2) Forge partnerships with organization’s teams and partner NGOs serving similar beneficiaries, collaborating to extend support and resources for upskilling initiatives in alignment with shared objectives;

(3) Coordinate with organization’ s civic and corporate volunteering teams to enhance volunteer engagement, leveraging their expertise and resources to maximize support for skilling programs and community development initiatives.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualification and Experience

(1) Graduate degree or equivalent qualification in any field from a reputable institute/ university; candidates with an IT degree will be given preference;

(2) At least 10 years of experience in skill development, including a minimum of 2-3 years focused on tech-related skilling, such as programming, IT infrastructure, data analytics, etc.;

(3) Demonstrate prior experience in project management and leadership roles, showcasing the ability to effectively manage teams and oversee complex initiatives.

 

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Strong leadership development and team building capabilities with entrepreneurial and growth mindset;

(2) Strong influencing skills, people engagement, networking and listening skills;

(3) A persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills;
(4) Should have a good understanding of either IT Skilling or the Skilling eco-system generally or both;

(5) Excellence written and verbal Communication;

(6) Highly resourceful team-player, who is self-driven and willing to travel nationally;
(7) Ability to drive outcome-oriented plans through the team’s collective effort.

 

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive and ranges from Rs. 12 to 15 lacs per annum. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.

 

6. LOCATION: Chennai/ Bangalore

 

Note: The post holder can be located in any of the above locations based on mutual agreement.
