1. POSITION VACANT: Program Support Officer, India Health Action Trust (IHAT), Lucknow

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

India Health Action Trust (IHAT) was established in 2003 by the University of Manitoba (UM), as part of a five-year (2001 to 2006) bilateral development project between Canada and India and registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 1976 in 2009. IHAT aims at improving public health initiatives both nationally and globally, by the provision of comprehensive technical assistance in the areas of program planning, management and monitoring.

IHAT has been providing comprehensive technical assistance as above to the State AIDS Control Societies of Karnataka, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Bihar, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Goa.

At the request of the Government of Uttar PradeshIHAT established a Technical Support Unit (TSU) in 2013, to provide techno-managerial assistance to improve the coverage of key reproductive, maternal, new-born, child health and nutrition (RMNCH+A) interventions and services in the state of Uttar Pradesh with funding support from Bill & Melinda Gate Foundation (BMGF) through University of Manitoba (UOM), Canada.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Director Health- Systems, the Program Support Officer shall provide vital assistance and develop routine project updates through narratives and PowerPoint by critically analyzing available data and information, develop and manage key project timelines and ensure necessary follow-ups to ensure delivery within the timelines. S/he will be a key link between the Director, the teams and partners. Under the Director’s supervision, s/he will manage and improve coordination between various partners and support units.

S/he will also facilitate effective communication between the Director and the program implementation team/s. S/he shall be expected to assess existing project processes and methodologies, identify gaps and contribute in developing improved project strategies.

As projects are dynamic, the PSO should be able to adapt the changes and the assigned responsibilities based on discussions with the assigned Director.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

(1) Program Management:
(a) Ensuring regular meetings with the Director as directed by the latter;
(b) Developing project dashboards;
(c) Sharing fortnightly updates regarding progress made against action items as decided in all internal and external meetings;
(d) Program data management and analytics;
(e) Developing and improving necessary analysis and presentation framework for all internal and external meetings, and maintain minutes of major meetings;
(f) Maintaining project schedules, manage and analyze progress using excel and other similar tools;
(g) Liasoning with stakeholders.

(2) Documentation:
(a) Preparing concept notes and reports for consideration as required;
(b) Preparing  high-quality presentations for internal and external demonstrations as directed by the Director.

(3) Strategic Planning:
(a) Conducting field visits to gauge program implementation across various platforms and projects and to ensure accurate dissemination of instructions and guidelines specified at the state level.

(4) Any other responsibilities given by Director, Health Systems.

4. QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:    

Qualification:
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from a top-tier institute.

Experience:
Applicants must have a minimum of three years of experience of working directly with Senior Management.

(1) Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
(2) Ability to function effectively as a team member;
(3) Demonstrate cross-cultural, teamwork skills and ability to foresee issues and initiate appropriate action;
(4) Must be flexible and able to work in a challenging environment;
(5) Advance knowledge in computer skills.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

The gross remuneration budgeted for the position is attractive. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
