Finance and Inventory Management Assistant, WHO

1. POSITION VACANT:  Finance and Inventory Management Assistant (FA-WCO), WHO, New Delhi

 

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

 

The World Health Organization’s (WHO) mandate revolves around six core functions:

(4) Articulating evidence-based policy options;

(5) Providing technical support to countries; and

(6) Monitoring and assessing health trends.

 

The WHO Country Office in India (WCO-India) provides wide-ranging policy inputs and technical assistance to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), in the area of health and health systems, to support a range of health initiatives that include National Rural Health Mission, Universal Coverage, Polio Surveillance, TB Control, HIV/AIDS, Roll Back Malaria, Tobacco Free Initiative, Health Financing, Trade Agreements and Health, Non-communicable Diseases, Environment and Health etc.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the Administrative Officer at the WHO India Country Office, the FA will focus on assuring the on-going availability and working condition of the organization’s fixed assets across the country. S/he will be responsible for the following:

 

(A) Inventory of Fixed Assets

 

(1)  Maintenance of fixed asset registers and lists in respect of all assets of the WCO, at multiple offices and/or in the custody of staff at New Delhi and other cities across the country

(2) Ensuring the systematic labeling and coding of fixed assets

(3) Periodic physical verification of the existence and condition of the organization’s fixed assets

(4) Alerting management about missing, damaged and/or unserviceable assets, recommending corrective action, as appropriate.

(5) Disposal Action against Inventory Items

(6) Vendor selection and cost benefit analysis.

 

(B) Expenditure Accounting

 

(1) Maintaining ledger and/or control accounts or records for key expenses incurred by WCO and/or WCO projects.

 

(C) Budgetary Control

 

(1) Tracking of actual expenses incurred in respect of different line items by WCO and/or WCO projects vis-à-vis approved budgets

(2) Alerting management about significant anticipated variances between actual and budgeted expenses for different line items.

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS:

 

(1) Applicants must have a bachelor’s or higher qualification in accountancy

(2) Applicants with a professional qualification in accounting, cost-accounting or equivalent, would be at an advantage.

 

5. EXPERIENCE:   

 

(1) At least three years of experience in the maintenance of accounts, budgeting and expenditure control

(2) Applicants must have prior experience of the maintenance of fixed assets records and their periodic verification

(3) Applicants with prior work experience with audit firms and exposure to the maintenance and periodic verification of fixed asset records, will be at an advantage.

 

6. SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

 

(1) Excellent knowledge of excel and standard MSOffice applications

(2) Proficiency in Tally and/or equivalent standard, accounting packages

(3) Strong analytical ability

(4) Ability to generate and comment upon management reports.

 

7. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Approximate initial taxable remuneration for the vacancy shall be INR 37,300/- pm.
