The World Health Organization’s (WHO) mandate revolves around six core functions:

The WHO Country Office in India (WCO-India) provides wide-ranging policy inputs and technical assistance to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), in the area of health and health systems, to support a range of health initiatives that include National Rural Health Mission, Universal Coverage, Polio Surveillance, TB Control, HIV/AIDS, Roll Back Malaria, Tobacco Free Initiative, Health Financing, Trade Agreements and Health, Non-communicable Diseases, Environment and Health etc.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The EM-RPIR will be functioning under the overall guidance of the WHO Representative to India (WR-I) and direct supervision and technical guidance of the Focal Point (Malaria and Vector Borne Diseases), WHO Country Office for India, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi. S/he will be providing technical support to the WHO project on “Impact of Insecticide Resistance” funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and being implemented in India by the National Institute of Malaria Research.
Key Responsibilities:
(1) Providing operational support in planning, implementing and monitoring the research project in Chhattisgarh state;
(2) Developing the study design and conduct surveys on use of insecticide treated nets, indoor residual spray and treatment seeking behaviour in project area;
(3) Providing technical assistance in surveillance, capacity building / training, assessment/ review of activities in the project area;
(4) Providing updates to the WCO-India on the project, on a weekly basis, including information on technical and logistics problems in implementation;
(5) Assisting in coordinating activities pertaining to malaria and other VBDs between WCO-India, National Institute of Malaria Research and Directorate of State Vector Borne Disease Control Programme;
(6) Preparing administrative and technical reports and undertake any other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by WCO-India
4. QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have a Masters Degree in Preventive Social Medicine/ Community Medicine/ Public Health, from a reputed institute.
5. EXPERIENCE:
Minimum two years of progressive experience in the area of specialization, of which at least one year should preferably be in public health programmes.
6. SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:
(1) Applicants should have experience in Health Management Information Systems;
(2) Open for extensive field work.
7. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Approximate initial taxable remuneration for the vacancy shall be INR 94,500/- pm.
