1. POSITION VACANT:  Driver (DV), WHO, (WCO, New Delhi)

 

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

 

The World Health Organization’s (WHO) mandate revolves around six core functions:

 

(1) Providing leadership on global health matters;

(2) Shaping the health research agenda;

(3) Setting norms and standards;

(4) Articulating evidence-based policy options;

(5) Providing technical support to countries; and

(6) Monitoring and assessing health trends.

 

The WHO Country Office in India (WCO-India) provides wide-ranging policy inputs and technical assistance to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), in the area of health and health systems, to support a range of health initiatives that include National Rural Health Mission, Universal Coverage, Polio Surveillance, TB Control, HIV/AIDS, Roll Back Malaria, Tobacco Free Initiative, Health Financing, Trade Agreements and Health, Non-communicable Diseases, Environment and Health etc.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the Administrative Officer, the DV shall be responsible for the following:

 

(1) Driving office vehicles for the transportation of WHO Representative to India (WR-I) and other authorized personnel

(2) Receiving official personnel at the airport and assisting with/ facilitating immigration and customs formalities

(3) Delivering and collecting mail, documents and other items, as and when required

(4) Visiting banks to withdraw/ deposit cash/ cheques and collecting bank drafts

(5) Day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle(s) viz. cleaning and checking of oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc.; performance of minor mechanical and electrical repairs

(6) Regular servicing and other repairs to the assigned vehicle(s), in consultation with NPO (P&A)

(7) Maintenance of records for the logging of official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil change, greasing, etc.

(8) Ensuring compliance with prescribed rules and regulations, in case of occurrence of an accident

(9) Photocopying and collating of documents, as required, etc.

 

(Note: The incumbent may be required to adhere to variable timings and/or put-in additional hours, for the performance of the above duties).

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS:

 

(1) Valid driving license

(2) Good knowledge of driving rules and regulations of the country

(3) Ability to read and write instructions and maps.

 

5. EXPERIENCE:   

 

At least four years experience as a driver, with a safe driving record.

 

6. SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

 

(1) Good knowledge of Hindi

(2) Working knowledge of English, both spoken and written

(3) Knowledge of chauffeur's courtesies

(4) Ability to detect and describe mechanical problems

(5) Ability to attend to minor mechanical and electrical repairs of vehicles

(6) Knowledge of the topography of NCR and surrounding areas

(7) Knowledge of first aid is desirable.

 

7. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

 

Approximate initial taxable remuneration for the vacancy shall be INR 20,700/- pm.
