Accounts Assistant

1. POSITION VACANT: Accounts Assistant, International Non-profit Organisation, New Delhi

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

Our client is a Section 8 company and a fully owned, non-profit subsidiary of a respected US charity. Our client has direct operations in Maharashtra and partnerships across the country and is in the process of applying for FCRA registration.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Initially reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, at our Client’s office in New Delhi, the Accounts Assistant shall be responsible for managing the entire finances of the organization including voucher entries, filing, financial reporting, budgeting, donor reporting, cash management and accounts finalization.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

(1) Receiving and evaluating invoices, expense forms and processing payment requests, ensuring that the latter are properly supported;
(2) Maintaining and preparing reconciliation of bank statements;
(3) Dealing with daily transactions for petty cash and ensuring weekly reconciliations;
(4) Maintaining a good filing system;
(5) Preparing cheques for payment;
(6) Handling all TDS related work;
(7) Ensuring proper management of assets and inventory such as cheque books, etc.;
(8) Maintaining relevant hard copies, as well as electronic records and files, as per donor requirements;
(9) Handling all communications with the site/ branch/ head office;
(10) Maintaining and finalizing relevant books of accounts;
(11) Managing office administration work and any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:
The applicant must possess a degree in Finance/Accounting, or equivalent, from a reputed institution.

Experience:
(1) A minimum of three years of experience in handling accounts with thorough knowledge of accounting software, preferably within the development sector;
(2) Thorough understanding of non-profit accounting systems and fund accounting, with at least two years of prior experience with an NGO;
(3) Proven experience in donor reporting. Prior exposure to USAID and/or USAID-funded projects shall be an advantage.

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Well versed with standard financial and accounting software, preferably Tally ERP 9, TDS software;
(2) Skilled in accounts finalization and handling audits;
(3) Well versed in setting up and managing Financial Information Systems;
(4) Ability to handle the accounting function independently;
(5) Knowledge of Indian tax laws and FCRA regulations. (Knowledge of corporate compliances shall be an advantage);
(6) Proficient in Microsoft Office, including intermediate skill levels in Excel;
(7) Strong oral and written communication skills in English.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position ranges from Rs. 30,000/- to Rs. 35,000/- per month, but shall not be a constraint for the right candidate. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
